We get calls all the time about the uilleann pipes - and we are now delighted to carry this recording, which has been universally praised in publications in Ireland, England and America. The McNamara family , from Aughavas in the south of County Leitrim, carries on a tradition of five generations of uilleann piping. What sets this recording above anything else in the entire field is the extensive notes, combined with the authentic playing and variety in instrumentation. I really can't recommend this enough for folks who want to learn from “the real thing”. In addition to the uillean pipes, the primary instruments are the flute, fiddle and concertina...with a touch of hammered dulcimer here and there! "This album makes an important statement about the strength of our tradition and the ability of a talented family to demonstrate that our music can continue to be refreshed and renewed without having to leave that tradition" --- Charlie Lennon, County Leitrim |
